Crawford Chau is a dynamic and driven fourth-year entrepreneur student at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU), deeply immersed in the world of business innovation and start-up culture. With over five years of experience in the restaurant industry, Crawford has developed a profound understanding of customer service, service innovation and business operations.This extensive background has played a pivotal role in shaping his entrepreneurial skills and business acumen.
In addition to his academic pursuits, Crawford has founded “See-through”. This venture highlights his creative thinking and commitment to bringing new ideas to life. His entrepreneurial journey has been further enriched by his involvement in two prestigious start-up incubators: the DMZ and Spark Innovation. These platforms have provided him with invaluable opportunities to network, learn from industry experts, and refine his business strategies.
Crawford’s journey reflects a blend of practical industry experience and theoretical business knowledge, making him a well-rounded entrepreneur with a bright future ahead. His ability to balance academic commitments with hands-on business development is a testament to his dedication and potential as an emerging leader in the entrepreneurial world.
Sam Schoelen
Mr. Sam Schoelen started his career as a technologist where he specialized in managed hosting and BBS via a dial-up. Mr. Schoelen progressively maneuvered through the changes in technology, keeping current of industry deviations and technology growth, networking, data security, and software development.
As Mr. Schoelen moved successfully through each technology change, he continued to advance his accreditations holding most industry standard certifications, to this day, he still maintains his certification of, CISSP. Mr. Schoelen started NetWorks Work, Inc., a technology consulting company which specialized in assisting organizations with little to no IT support, having a specific niche, the company grew rapidly. Never satisfied, Mr. Schoelen strived for more, he joined Continental Resources to start their now booming Managed Services division. Mr. Schoelen wrote the initial business plan, implemented it and successfully grew the business through marketing, sales, engineering hires and even writing the original monitoring software used to support the continually growing customer base. Mr. Schoelen’s success was so well received within ConRes, he was promoted to the company’s first ever Chief Information Officer. As CIO, Mr. Schoelen was responsible for both the Managed Services operations as well as corporate IT and the established Cloud Service practice. Mr. Schoelen still keeps abreast of the latest technologies and has had several articles published.
Mr. Schoelen holds a Bachelor degree and Master degree in Information Technology from the University of Massachusetts and is currently working on finishing his Master of Business Administration.
Matthew Addario
From traveling the globe to operating award winning establishments worldwide, Matthew had his humble beginnings in the hospitality industry as a dishwasher in a long established venue. From here the sky was the limit with Matthew starting his management career in inventory control for a boutique nightlife venue. Through great mentorship and growth he took on operations for two of Canada’s largest entertainment complexes.
As his ambitions grew, he decided to change his path and move into corporate events and banqueting at the highest level servicing the Toronto International Film Festival. As time passed, he was scouted to open the city’s first rooftop pool oasis. With his ambitions growing, he was quickly hand picked to head to Dubai to open and operate an award winning venue accredited by the BBC and Conde Nast. Through this success, he managed to consult on projects worldwide and expand his passion for hospitality.
With a varying array of experience before the age of 30, it was time for another change; Matthew moved into the pinnacle of luxury hotels globally, The St. Regis. Matthew honed his skills for customer relations, technical service and broadened his skill set in operations. Though the pandemic brought doubt and fear for the future of hospitality, Matthew found new light moving to open a boutique hotel and vineyard in the heart of the Niagara-on-the-Lake.
With the changing tide in tastes and likes, Matthew continues to be an industry leader under the hospitality umbrella. There is not a problem that his experience cannot solve. Matthew’s vision and understanding of the hospitality industry is an asset to this new endeavor set to change the way we look at restaurants for future generations
